SOUTH BEND - Jean (Reyniers) Hager,
80, of Wakewa Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:50 p.m. on
Friday, April 17, in Memorial Hospital. Jean was born on Nov. 9,
1917, in South Bend, to William and Jessie Mae (Ireland) Reyniers.
On Jan. 22, 1942, in South Bend, as Jean Reyniers, she married
John M. Hager, who survives. She is also survived by three
daughters, Ann B. Thomas of Auburn, Ind., Betsy and her
husband, Marty Kelly of Granger, Ind., and Judy and her
husband, Mark Spurgeon of Denver, Colo.; a son, John W.
Hager of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by nine grandchildren, Jeffrey
and Michael Hager of Louisville, Ky., Conner Burk of
Indianapolis, Erin and Nathan Spurgeon of Denver, Patrick and
Brian Kelly of Granger, and Brad and Jessica Thomas of Auburn,
Ind. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church and
was a past president of the United Methodist Women.
Visitation for Jean will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at the First United Methodist Church, 333 N. Main Street, with Rev. Dr. Elwood K. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to either Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Alzheimer's - Northern Indiana Chapter, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.
