Bertha Mary Hagen, 87, of Hampshire
Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday,
Sept. 29, in the St. Joseph Medical Center. She was born on July
23, 1911, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Frank and Victoria (Piechowiak)
Kiedrowski, and lived in the South Bend area for the past
22 years, coming from Buffalo. Mrs. Hagen was preceded in death
by her parents; and by eight brothers and sisters, Leo Wagner,
Rosalyn Harper, Frank Wagner, Clara Vanderlinden,
Florence Stockman, Cecelia Schoemick, Irene Helm
and Genevieve Kreuder.
On Aug. 2, 1930, in Buffalo, as Bertha Mary
Kiedrowski, she married Howard H. Hagen, who also preceded her in
death on July 24, 1963. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon
(William) McKenna of South Bend; a son, Howard (Mary)
Hagen of East Aurora, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Collen McKenna of
Bloomington, Sean McKenna of Richmond, Va., Erin McKenna of
Portland, Ore., Kathy (Craig) Eckhart, Howard J. Hagen,
James (Susan) Hagen, Beverly (Robert) King, Donna (David) Szuba,
all of Buffalo, N.Y., William (Eileen) Hagen of Rochester, N.Y.,
Andrew (Michelle) Hagen of Henderson, Nev., and Kurt Hagen of
California; and by 17 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of The Cathedral of St.
Matthew and Howard Park Senior Citizens Center. A memorial Mass
will be held in Buffalo at a later date. Cremation will take
place at St. Joseph Crematory, with burial to follow in White
Chapel Cemetery, Tonawanda, N.Y. There will be no visitation. The
St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, is in charge of
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop
Crowley Fund, St. Matthew Cathedral School, 1015 E. Dayton
