MISHAWAKA - Matthew Allen Haga, 40,
of Southwood Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brave
battle with cancer at 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in his
home. Matthew was born on Sept. 26, 1957, to Bill and Elsie Haga,
in Mishawaka. Both parents preceded him in death. Matt was also
preceded in death by his brother, Martin Haga.
On Aug. 26, 1997, Matt married the former
Lisa Carpenter, who survives. He is also survived by
daughters, Tabitha Haga of Kokomo, Ind., and Theresa Haga of
Osceola, Ind.; and by his stepdaughter, Dawn Carpenter of
Mishawaka. Also left to cherish his loving memory are his sister
and brother-in-law, Peggy and Greg Burris of Osceola; his
brother, Mark Haga of Ft. Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren,
Mikayla and David of Kokomo. Nephews and nieces include Bill and
Renae Finn of South Bend, Ind., Todd and Judy Finn of
Mishawaka, Shawn Finn of Mishawaka, Sandy and Alvin Chambers of
Mishawaka, and Elsie, Melissa, and Sarah Haga of Michigan.
Matthew had spent most of his adult life working for the WMCR
Corporation, Kentucky Fried Chicken stores in Texas, Kokomo,
Ind., and, most recently, in the South Bend and Mishawaka stores
as store manager in several locations. He was a dedicated and
well-liked person in his job field, and will surely be missed by
all who loved him.
Visitation for Matt will be from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 27, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel on
North Main Street in Mishawaka. Matt will be laid to rest beside
his loved ones on Saturday, March 28, at the Walnut Grove
Cemetery in Clinton, Ind., after private services there. Memorial
contributions in Matthew's name may be made to Hospice of St.
Joseph County.
