Adolph Haefke, 85, of Tonti Avenue,
South Bend, Ind., died following a lengthy illness at 4:10 p.m.
on Saturday, Aug. 19, in Anthony Wayne Healthcare, Fort Wayne,
Ind. Mr. Haefke was born on Jan. 10, 1915, in Poland, to the late
Adolf and Emma (Besser) Haefke. He was also preceded in
death by a sister, Martha Haefke; and by a brother, Rudolf
Haefke. He had lived in South Bend since 1952, coming from
Germany, and was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, South
Bend.
On Aug. 17, 1947, in Germany, he married
Leonide N. Radke, who survives. He is also survived by a
daughter, Ingrid (James) Haney of Granger, Ind.; two sons,
Helmut (Jan) Haefke of Arlington and Robert E. Haefke of
Northcross, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Christofer and Benjamin McMann,
Jordan Ann, Justin and Jillian Haney, and Christopher and Paul Patterson;
two great-grandchildren, Evan and Alex McMann; and by a brother,
Ziegfried (Meta) Haefke of Germany.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m.
today, Aug. 22, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, with Rev.
Denise M. Grant officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no
visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association, Northern Indiana Chapter, 425 N. Michigan Street,
Suite 308, South Bend, IN 46601-1236. The Welsheimer Funeral Home
is handling arrangements.
