SOUTH BEND - Services for Essie M. Hackney, 95, of Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal, who died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the nursing home of natural causes, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Church of God in Christ, Cairo, Ill. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Olmsted, Ill. Friends may call one hour before services in the church. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Hackney was born Jan. 30, 1900, in Mount Zion, Ill., and lived in South Bend five years. Her husband died Dec. 7, 1967. Surviving are four daughters, Lela Williams, Estelle Washington and Jessie Kindred, all of South Bend, and Annette Hackney of Mound City, Ill.; and 30 grandchildren. A son, Clyde, preceded her in death. She was a member of Church of God in Christ, Mound City.
