Services for Sister M. Emerita Gyarmathy CSC, 77, of Saint Mary’s Convent, who died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the convent, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Churc0h of Loretto with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call Sunday in the convent, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.

She was born Alice Barbara Gyamathy on Oct. 11, 1911 in Plymouth. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on May 22, 1940; was received as a novice on Feb. 2, 1942; and professed her vows on Feb. 2, 1944. She was a registered nurse, having received her bachelor of sciebnce degree in nursing from Catholic University of America, Washington DC, in 1953 and completed her post-graduate work at Columbia University, New York, in hospital administration. She served in hospitals in Fresno, Calif.; Salt Lake City; Columbus, Ohio; Cairo, Ill.; and Anderson, Ind. She was assigned to St. Mary’s Convent in 1975, where she performed clerical duties in the nursing services.
