WAKARUSA - Lola "Vivian" Guzicki, 87, formerly
of South Bend, passed away at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008
in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was born April 18, 1921,
in Atlanta, IN, to Lamarre and Amy Hope (Smith) Forkner.
On January 21, 1950, in South Bend, she
married Richard J. Guzicki, who survives. Mrs. Guzicki is
survived by a son, Richard "Rick" V. (Debbie) Guzicki
of Mishawaka; two granddaughters, Erin E. and Kristin A. Guzicki
of Mishawaka; sister, Betty (Ed) King of Pharr, TX and
brother, Otis (Ivy) Forkner of Eau Claire. Two sisters, Annabelle
Hamilton and Juanita Forkner and a brother, James C.
Forkner preceded her in death. Mrs. Guzicki was a lifelong area
resident. She graduated from Lakeville High School in 1939, where
she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Mrs. Guzicki loved
the outdoors, where she spent many hours. She collected crosses
and crucifixes and was a member of the National Bank Women's
Club. Mrs. Guzicki loved to spend time with her family and
friends. The light of her life were her two granddaughters. She
also was very fond of her pets. She enjoyed life and loved to
laugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10 a.m. Monday, April 28, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701
Miami, South Bend. Rev. Michael Heintz will officiate. Burial
will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit
with the family from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the Palmer
Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend.
