Lawrence E. Guyton, 78, residing on
Hubbard Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 3:22 a.m. on
Monday, Aug. 2, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Mr.
Guyton worked for Studebaker Corporation. Then in 1985 he retired
from AM General after 20 years of service. He was born on Feb.
10, 1921, in Walnut Springs, Texas, to the late Louie E. and
Nellie Fenn Guyton, and had lived in this community since
1945 coming from Waco, Texas. On April 6, 1946, in South Bend he
married Betty M. Hensel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53
years, Betty; two daughters, Sharon K. (Michael) Geyer of
Arlington, Texas and Carol J. (Michael) McCall of
Mishawaka; a son, Larry E. (Linda) Guyton of Granger, Ind.; six
grandchildren, Jeffrey Guyton, Stephen and Rebecca McCall,
Andrew, Richard and David Geyer; and by two sisters, Gertrude Diffie
of Abilene, Texas and Bernell Elliott of El Paso, Texas.
Mr. Guyton was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and
served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He
was also a member of Mishawaka Lodge #130 Free & Accepted
Masons, the VFW #1167, and the Moose Lodge of Mishawaka.
Services for Mr. Lawrence Guyton will be at
11 a.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue,
South Bend. Rev. David Doane of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,
will officiate. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Tuesday in the Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend. A Masonic Service
was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family will also receive
friends one hour prior to the services today. Contributions in
memory of Mr. Guyton may be made to the Building Fund of the Holy
Trinity Lutheran Church, 707 Sherman Avenue, South Bend, IN
