SOUTH BEND - Frances L. Gustafson, 79, residing in South Bend, passed away at 9:01 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, in her home. She was born January 12, 1929, in Hillview, IL, as the daughter of Chester and Effo (Hoskins) Turner, and had lived in this area since 1950, coming from Illinois.

In Riverside, California, as Frances Turner, she was united in marriage to Harry B. Gustafson, who preceded her in death on February 25, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Terrell (James) Frain of South Bend; her son, Randy Gustafson of Seattle, WA; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Christopher Frain, both of South Bend. Also surviving Frances are her sister, Maryann (Eugene) Ackard of South Carolina, and a half sister, Ruth Pfister of Joliet, IL. Mrs. Gustafson retired from the Data Processing Dept. of the South Bend Community School Corporation.

There will be no services. Burial will be at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family requests that all memorials be made to The Division of Endocrinology Gift-Osteopetrosis, Indiana University School of Medicine, 1110 West Michigan Street, LO506, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, is assisting the Gustafson family with arrangements.
