Julius L. Guidi, 88, of 1434 E 4th Street, died about 7:05 p.m. in his residence following an illness. He was born in Lonjone, Italy, on Oct. 26,1896, and spent most of his life in Mishawaka. He was retired from Uniroyal Inc. in Mishawaka after 30 years of service and worked for Gerards Art Store in Mishawaka for 10 years. For many years he operated Guidis Greenhouse at his home. He married Louise Belli on Oct. 25, 1919 in Mishawaka and she died April 6, 1960. Surviving are three daughters, Lillian Perry of South Bend, Mary Jo Acrey of Mishawaka and Dorothy Guidi at home; a son Robert of Brainerd, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Josephs Catholic Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel where a wake service is planned at 7 p.m.
Mr. Guidi was a member of St. Josephs Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Mishawaka Aerie 2083 and the DeAmicis Club of Mishawaka. He served in the Army during World War I and was the oldest living member of the American Legion Post 161. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
