GRANGER - Eugene C. Guentert Jr., 61, of Brandychase West, died at 1 a.m. Saturday in his home after an illness. Mr. Guentert retired from Western Electric after 25 years as a technician. He was born Jan. 4, 1934, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 31, 1992, in South Bend, he married Jill Spillman. She survives with twin stepdaughters, Julia M. Perry of Granger and Jodie M. Russell of South Bend; and a sister, Rose Mary Bell of Indianapolis. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and an Army veteran.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
