Stanley Grygiel

Stanley Grygiel, 90, of Irvington
Ave., South Bend, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday in his residence.
He was born February 28, 1911, in Sobieski,
WI, and lived in this area since 1941, coming from Chicago.
On May 29, 1937, in South Bend, he married
Stephanie Juszczak, who preceded him in death on January
10, 1997. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter,
Georgia Ann Grygiel, who died in 1984; a grandson, Gregory
Grygiel, who died in 1999; five brothers, Walter, Michael, Louie,
Andy and Tony; and one sister, Rose Grygiel. He is survived by a
daughter, Diane (William) Mondt of Michigan City, IN; a
son, George (Mary Ann) Grygiel of South Bend; one grandchild,
Ronald Wamser; two sisters, Sophie (Louis) Ziminek
of Pulaski, WI, Veronica (Anthony) Ziminek of Sobieski,
WI; and one brother, Joseph Grygiel of Krakow, WI.
Stanley retired from the Bendix Corporation
in 1976, after 33 years of tenure where he was recognized as the
best Tool and Die Maker in the department! He and his wife
Stephanie were one of the original families of Holy Family Parish
where he was a lifetime member of the Ushers' Club.
As a member of The Indiana Beekeeper's
Association he had a long love affair with bees, providing
Northern Indiana with the sweetest honey around. Nurturing over
200 hives at one time, he earned the nickname Stan "The Bee
Man." He was a mentor to aspiring beekeepers, and taught
many about the intricacies, rewards, and success of his
avocation. An avid gardener, he had a passion for sharing his
vast knowledge and experience, as well as the vegetables
harvested. His wonderful sense of humor, generosity and zest for
life will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Many
thanks and sincere appreciation to the wonderful neighbors who so
thoughtfully provided friendship, support and all those goodies.
He always felt blessed!!
Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m.
until 8:00 p.m. Monday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.
Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m. Services
will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church,
with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Grygiel was
a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Ushers Club and
Bendix Local #9.
