SOUTH BEND - Mary E. Grwinski, 79, residing in South Bend,
passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in
Silverbrook Manor, Niles, MI, following a stroke she had suffered
a week earlier. She was born February 9, 1929, in Auburn, IN, to
Walter and Estelle (Williams) Kessler. She received
her BA in business from Indiana University. While at Indiana
University she met Louis H. Grwinski and they were united in
marriage on August 22, 1953, in New Haven, IN. They returned to
South Bend where Dr. Grwinski practiced medicine throughout his
career. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage until his passing in
August 1994. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert
Kessler. Mrs. Grwinski is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Anna)
Grwinski of Auburn, IN, and Bradd (Ellen) Grwinski of Niles, MI.
Also surviving are five grandsons, Luke, Levi, Landin, Lincoln
and Logan Grwinski; her sister, Carol Sanders of Mill
Valley, CA; two nieces, Judy and Irene, and a nephew, Tim. Mary
enjoyed her family, sewing, reading, and trying to make things
last long past their prime. She was always the first one on the
block to have a clean driveway after a snow fall. She always
enjoyed a good joke, and helping others. She was a member of the
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses-Miami Trails.
Services will be at noon Friday, Sept. 5, in
Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street,
South Bend. Rev. Dave Flowers will officiate. The family will
receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday in the
funeral home. Cremation will take place at Southlawn Cremation
Services and she will be laid to rest with her husband Louis in
Auburn, IN. Contributions in memory of Mary E. Grwinski may be
