SOUTH BEND - Blanche M. Grunert, 91, of Fairington Circle, died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday in Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Grunert was the former owner of Grunert Lettering Service for 20 years and a volunteer for REAL Services for eight years. She was born May 10, 1904, in Mendon and lived in South Bend for 73 years, coming from Sturgis.

On April 20, 1921, in Penn, Mich., as Blanche Williams, she married Fred W. Grunert. He died Aug. 8, 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy B. Lang of Boulder, Colo., and Jean G. Kopec of South Bend; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alyce Rantz of Mishawaka and Ruth Trowbridge of Odgen, Utah.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurses Association.
