George E. Grubbs Jr.

George E. Grubbs, 67, of Dogwood Road, Wakarusa, Ind., passed away on Monday, March 25, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. George was born on Oct. 20, 1934, as the son of the late George Sr. and Edna (Barts) Grubbs. George was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Grubbs in 1957, and by a sister and two brothers.

On March 31, 1956, in Granger, Ind., he married the former Edith Kleltz, who survives. George is also survived by a daughter, Linda (Blake) Gavros of South Bend; two sons, Gary (Ronda) of Mishawaka, Ind., and Greg of Wakarusa; six grandchildren, Jason Horvath, Lesley Grubbs, Bryan Gavros, Kristin Grubbs, Joshua Grubbs and Jessica Gavros; a sister, Lois Kring of South Bend; and by a good friend, Vincent Vairo of Benson, Ariz. George worked as a machinist for Allied Signal for 23 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of Eagles #2083 and the United Auto Workers #364 of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28th, in the Hahn

Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 29, in the Hahn Funeral Home, with the Revs. Duane and Christena Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of George to the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County, United Health Services, 711 E Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
