Frank K. Grubb, 72, of Granger, IN, passed
away Friday, March 3, 2006, in Memorial
Hospital.
He was born March
4, 1933, in Johnson County, Indiana, to the late Marden J. and
Lala Kent Grubb. Also preceding him in death was a daughter,
Katherine Grubb Schirm.
On June 1,
1958, in Shelbyville, Frank married the former Mary Bea Phares,
also of Shelbyville. Also surviving to cherish his memory are his
daughter, Stephanie Grubb Dayton and husband, Paul of
Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jennifer and Valerie Dayton, and
Katie and Jacob Harding; sister, Norma Fansler and husband, Wayne
of New Whiteland, Indiana; brothers, James M. Grubb and wife,
Martha of Lafayette, Ind., and Laurence E. Grubb and fiancée,
Martha Kehrt of Shelbyville, Indiana.
Frank was a 1951 graduate of Shelbyville High School and went on to graduate
from Purdue University in 1961 with a degree in math and
education. He received his master's degree from I.U. in 1965.
Frank worked for the South Bend Community School Corp. for over
30 years as a guidance counselor and math teacher. After
retirement from the School Corporation he continued to work for
City Awning. Frank was actively involved at First Baptist Church
in South Bend, the Baptist Youth Fellowship, Purdue Baptist
Student Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Michiana
Men's Chorus. Frank enjoyed Purdue football, woodworking, and
open-road bicycle trips and traveling, but especially Purdue
football.
Memorial services were held March 6, 2006 in the First Baptist Church, South
Bend. Rev. Douglas Baker officiated. After cremation burial will
be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Welsheimer Family
Funeral Home North, South Bend, Indiana, assisted family with
arrangements.
