WALKERTON - Jerry F. Groves, 65, of
1505 Tamarack Road, died at 6:35 p.m. Saturday in Mayflower Care
Center, Plymouth, after an illness. Mr. Groves was a carpenter
and farmer. He was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Parkston, S.D., and
lived in Walkerton most of his life, coming from Columbia City.
On July 23, 1949, in Walkerton, he married
Marjorie Joan Schultz. She survives with two daughters,
Denise Zahrn of Summerville, S.C., and Karen Somers
of Fort Wayne; six sons, David and Brian, both of Mishawaka, Jim,
Damon, and Steven, all of Walkerton, and Dennis of Lakeville;
four grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Ellen Reiff of
Albuquerque, N.M., Lorraine Tebay of Pasco, Wash., and
Dorothy Harder and Joan Pola, both of Mishawaka;
and three brothers, Norbert of Summerville, Tom of Bristol, and
Dennis of Walkerton. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic
Church, Knights of Columbus Council 5709, American Legion Post
189, and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St.
Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,
where graveside services will be conducted by the American
Legion. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in
Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
