Walter John Gropp

Services for Walter J. Gropp, 59, of 220 W. Colfax Ave., who died at 10:43 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, South Bend, following an illness, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph County Heart Fund or Diabetes Association.
Mr. Gropp retired as a self-employed building contractor with Gropp Construction in 1975. Born March 15, 1926, in Mishawaka, he lived in this area all of his life.
On June24, 1950, in Mishawaka, Mr. Gropp married the former Geraldine M. Trippel, who survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Eileen Bressler of Edwardsburg, Vera Fay of Orlando, Fla., and Ruth Wolford of Tucson, Ariz.; four brothers, Alvin of Stroh, Ind., Wesley and Roger, both of Mishawaka, and Bernard of Osceola. A brother, Ralph, died in 1980. He was a member of VFW Post 360 and FOP Lodge 92 in Mishawaka.
