SOUTH BEND - Mildred "Millie" Gromski, 82, passed away at 7:55 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, in the Milton Home. Mildred was born on December 7, 1925, in Terre Coupe, IN, to the late Casimer and Constance (Rybicki) Bystry. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Gromski on September 12, 1997; brothers, Zygmund and Bert; and by a granddaughter, Jennifer Matthews. On June 22, 1946, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Mildred married Walter Gromski who survives along with a son, James (Pam) Gromski of South Bend; a daughter, Susan (Daryl) Matthews of Niles, MI; a daughter-in-law, Linda Gromski of Morrison, CO; grandchildren, Jason, Mark, Nick and Amy; a brother, Casimer Bystry Jr. of South Bend; and a sister, Theresa Widawski of South Bend. Millie worked as a press operator for Easy Heat Wire Craft. Years ago Millie and Walt enjoyed traveling and taking RV caravans through Mexico. She also was an avid euchre player. Millie enjoyed wintering in Sebring, FL.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Gardens at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
