SOUTH BEND - Brother Alfred ''John'' Grilli, CSC, 84, of Dujarie House, Notre Dame, died today in his residence. Brother Grilli was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Chicago.

He entered the Brothers of Holy Cross on Aug. 15, 1937; made temporary profession on Aug. 16, 1938; and final vows on Aug. 16, 1941. He was assigned to teaching and taught at Holy Trinity High School, Chicago, and Holy Cross School, New Orleans, La., retiring in 1987. He is survived by three brothers, Eugene of Arlington Heights, Ill., Frank of Burbank, Ill., and Peter of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Holy Cross Brothers Center.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at the Brothers Center.

Friends may call two hours before services on Sunday in the Brothers Center.

Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
