Edna May Grenert, 74, residing on New Road in South Bend, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 3:02 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, at the Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
Mrs. Grenert was a homemaker, born on May 22, 1925, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Leroy and Helen (Leahy) Sowers. She had resided most of her life in our local area.
On July 10, 1948, in Lakeville, Ind., she married William C. Grenert, who also preceded her in death on July 26, 1997. She is survived by five daughters, Jacqueline Carr of Clearwater, Fla., Patricia Y. Evans of Mishawaka, Ind., Linda L. (James) Smith of Keflavik, Iceland, Gail L. Grenert of South Bend and Barbara M. (Frank) Cruz of South Bend; a son, David W. (Sue) Grenert of Lakeville; 12 grandchildren, Sean and Christopher Carr, Matthew and Sally Evans, Deanna, Scott, Laura and Krista Grenert, Devon, Michael and Sara Smith, and Eric Cruz; and by a brother, Jester "Jerry" (Madge) Sowers of Cincinnati.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, Ind. Rev. Don Francis will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty, Ind. Friends visited with the family on Wednesday in the funeral home.
