David E. Gregg

David E. Gregg, residing on South
29th Street, South Bend, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Sunday,
December 30, 2001 in Holy Cross Health and Rehabilitation Center,
South Bend at the age of 83. He was born March 19, 1918 in Detroit,
Michigan as the son of Carl & Alice (McElroy) Gregg and has
lived in the South Bend area since 1929 coming from Detroit. He
was the owner and operator of the former Gregg's Standard Service
Station located on Mishawaka Ave., and 23rd Street in River Park,
which he operated for nearly 30 years. On June 21, 1941 at River Park
United Methodist Church, South Bend, he married Mary Jane
Rendall, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter,
Patricia Ann (John) Ross of Memphis, TN; two sons, David E. (Mary
Norman) Gregg of Elkhart; and James L. (Carol) Gregg of Houston,
TX. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jill (Lee) Brummitt,
Jason (Brandi) Gregg, Robert Gregg, Matthew Gregg, three
great-grandchildren, Mary and David Brummitt, and Asher Gregg,
and a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Twilla Gregg of
Lakeville.
Mr. Gregg was a member of Maple
Grove United Methodist Church, a member of the former River Park
Fisherman's Club, and the River Park Business Association.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Thursday, January 3, 2002 in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka
Ave., South Bend. Rev. Charles Ternet, pastor of Maple Grove United
Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday in the
Palmer Funeral Home.
