SOUTH BEND - James W. Greenwood, 87, of Holiday, FL,
passed away at 9:34 PM Friday, September 26, in his home. He was
born on September 27, 1920, in Granger, to the late John J. and
Eva Fuller Greenwood. On October 20, 1940, in South Bend, IN, he
married Jean D. (Bussert) Greenwood, who passed away on
January 30, 2001. On October 26, 2001, he married Anna (Procter)
Martin Greenwood, who survives. Also surviving are his two
daughters, Carol L. (Richard) Selby of Galveston, TX, and
Mary L. Greenwood of Brandon, FL; two sons, Robert J. (Patsy)
Greenwood and Michael E. (Jeannine) Greenwood, both of Kokomo; a
stepson, Jeffrey (Diane) Martin of Duluth, GA; a
stepdaughter, Shawn Finnimore of New Port Richey, FL; 12
grandchildren, Mark Greenwood, Cindy (Phil) Fogleman,
Tammie (Steve) Meadows, Stacy (Todd) James, Marci
(Erik) May, Michael David (Mellisa) Greenwood, Jennifer
(Marcus) Finney, Warren (Claire) Selby, Sean (Heather)
Greenwood, Matthew Greenwood, Andrew (Heather) Greenwood and A.J.
McDermott; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert
Greenwood of South Bend. Preceding him in death were his son and
daughter-in-law, John M. and Anna Greenwood; two sisters, Ada Beck
and Ruth Fisher; and one brother, Ernest Greenwood.
Mr. Greenwood was a Christian minister and
most recently a member of the Christian Church of Holiday,
Florida. In his distinguished career, he served many churches, as
well as being the executive director of the Christian Restoration
Association and editor of the Restoration Herald. He was also
past president of the Great Lakes Bible College. He also served
as a trustee of the former Cincinnati Bible College, now the
Cincinnati Christian University.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, October 4, in Harris Prairie Church of Christ, 14719 SR 23, Granger, IN 46530. Rev. Ed Erskin, pastor of Northway Church of Christ, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Harris Prairie Cemetery, Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 7 to 9 PM Friday in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the church on Oct. 4th.
