Ryant Lamond Greene, 38, was a loving
son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He was born Aug. 8,
1963, in South Bend, Ind., and entered into eternal rest at 6:14
p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001. He moved to Plano, Texas, as a
teen-ager with his family on Dec. 25, 1978. He graduated from
Plano Senior High School where he and his older brother Roderic
were known as the "Dynamic Duo" in basketball. During
his high school career, he and Roderic played a major part in
leading Plano Senior High to the state championship for the first
time in the history of the school, under the leadership of Coach
Mike Bridges. Ryant earned a scholarship to Abilene Christian
University where he made first-team all-conference. He also
played semi-pro basketball in Italy.
He is survived by his mother and father,
Nyoka and Jimmy King; brothers, Roderic Greene, Jimmy King
Jr., Joe McRoberts, Mitchell and Shawn Greene; sister,
Lana Alford of Chicago, Ill.; maternal grandmother, Rosie Newsome;
paternal grandmother, Inez King, all of South Bend; aunts,
Charolette (Charles) Fulce-Watson of Bryan, Texas, Darlene
Greene, Mary Louise Pruitt, Leslie King, all of South Bend,
Connie (Roosevelt) Topps of Hendersonville, Tenn., Roxanne
Newbill of Plano; uncles, Dwight (Marion) Fulce of
South Bend, Joseph Fulce of Denton, Texas, LeRoy (Linda) King of
Dallas, Texas, Jon (Lavern) King of Richmond, Va., Eugene King,
Richard King, Brian King, Larry (Karen) King, all of South Bend;
special friend, Linda Phillips; along with a host of
relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.
on Saturday, Oct. 13, in Alford's Mortuary, with visitation one
hour before the service. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
