Francis Leo Greene

SOUTH BEND – Francis Leo Greene, 1440 Hildreth Street, died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Hines, Ill. He had been ill since July 13. He was born in Sharownee County, Kansas, Jan. 15, 1899. He was a South Bend resident from 1939 to 1946 when he moved to Kirtland, Ind, where he operated an appliance store until 1952.

 

Last May he returned to South Bend and he married Dorothy Braunsdorf in South Bend March 10, 1944. In addition to the widow, other survivors are his mother, Mrs. R. E. Greene, of Midland, Texas; a son James of Prierceton, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. F. C. Williams, of South Bend, Mrs. Charles Knott of Kendallville, Ind., and Mrs. Brent Fox Jr. of Rome City, Ind.; three brothers, E. Quinn and Raymond of Midland, and Paul of Roswell, N.M., and a sister, Mrs. C.R. Dillingham of Corpus Christi, Texas.

 

Green, who served in the Army in World War I and the Navy in World War II, was a member of the Disabled Americans Veterans.

 

Friend may call after 7 p.m. today in the Orvis Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Jerome K. Bonk, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
