MISHAWAKA - August Graveel, 93, of 507 W. 6th Street, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after an illness of three weeks. He was born July 15, 1978 in Belgium and came here from that country in 1899.

On July 30, 1910 he married Emma De Meester in Mishawaka. She died in 1958. Surviving are a son Julius C. Graveel of Tuston, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Paul E. George of Louisville, Ky., four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where services will be at 10a.m. Saturday. Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, pastor of St. Bavo’s Catholic Church, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Mr. Graveel retired in 1943 as owner and operator of Graveel’s grocery and meat market. He was a member of the B.K. Club and the Senior Citizens of Mishawaka.
