SOUTH BEND - Roman J. Grajczyk, 87,
of South Camden Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 9 a.m. on
Friday, May 23, in his residence. Mr. Grajczyk was born on July
22, 1909, in South Bend, and had lived in the area all of his
life. He retired from Indiana University after 10 years of
service. He was also an employee of the former Studebaker
Corporation.
In 1936, in St. Casimir Catholic Church, he
married Helen Micinski, who preceded him in death on April
3, 1955. On Sept. 9, 1967, in South Bend, he married Betty Simmons,
who preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 1993. Mr. Grajczyk is
survived by a daughter, Beverly Otolski of South Bend; a
son, Larry Grajczyk of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Theresa Hill,
Marka Cote, Becky Pauley, Tracey Lynn Batdorf
(who died on Jan. 6, 1995), Dawn Kenzie, Ricky Grajczyk
and Doug Grajczyk; 13 great-grandchildren, Steve Hans,
Brandy Hans, Jonas Hans, Jennifer Schriefer, Jessie
Schriefer, Jamie Schriefer, Steven Cote, Jeremy Schriefer,
Christopher Schriefer, Nicholas Batdorf, Jacyln Batdorf, Candice
Kenzie and Brittiny Grajczyk; and by a sister, Jane Cheolsinski
of New Carlisle, Ind. Mr. Grajczyk was an Army veteran of World
War II, and was a member of American Legion Pulaski Post 357.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
on Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be
said at 3 p.m. Services will be at noon on Tuesday in the St.
Joseph Funeral Home, with burial to follow in St. Joseph
Cemetery.
