SOUTH BEND - Rita K. Gottlick, 77, of
Waterview Court, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:15 p.m. on Friday,
March 20, in Holy Cross Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs.
Gottlick retired as a registered nurse for Drs. Egan and Dunlap
after 20 years of service. She was born on Aug. 14, 1920, in
Monterey, Ind., to William and Ernestine (Rock) Decker and had
lived in the South Bend area since 1942, coming from Monterey.
On June 6, 1942, in Monterey, as Rita K. Decker,
she married Sylvester S. Gottlick, who preceded her in death on
Jan. 21, 1988. She is survived by two sons, William J. (Barbara)
Gottlick of Granger, Ind., and Bud S. (Suzanne) Gottlick of Grand
Rapids, Mich.; five grandchildren, Pamela Kennedy, Aimee Matthews,
Lora Pauli and Peter and Thomas Gottlick; nine
great-grandchildren; and by three sisters, Mary ''Tootie'' Bauer
of South Bend, Carol Stoneburner of Plymouth, Ind. and
Judi Minniear of Muncie, Ind. Mrs. Gottlick was a member
of Little Flower Catholic Church in South Bend and was very
active in a number of organizations within the church. She was
also very active with the board of directors of the New London
Lakes Condominiums where she lived.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on
Monday in Little Flower Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Guertin,
CSC, officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral
Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, where a wake prayer service
will be held at 5:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the
building fund of Little Flower Catholic Church.
