Carol Goshert, 76, of Hilltop Drive,
South Bend, Ind., died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in
Hospice House of St. Joseph County. She was born on Jan. 30,
1926, in Highland Park, Mich., to Carl C. and Hazel E. (Marsh)
Wilcox. Carol graduated from John Adams High School in
South Bend and received her B.S. degree in music and psychology
from Olivet College, Olivet, Mich. She completed her
post-graduate work at Indiana State University, majoring in early
childhood education.
From 1948 until 1957, Carol was employed by
the St. Joseph County Department of Public Welfare, and from 1973
until 1988 she was with the Circle of Mercy Day Nursery.
While employed at the Department of Public
Welfare, she met Robert L. Goshert. They were married on May 7,
1955, in South Bend, in the First Presbyterian Church. Robert
died on May 1, 1999. She is survived by a daughter and
son-in-law, Jill and G. Scott Olbin of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a
son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Denise Goshert of
Plainfield, Ill.; and by five grandchildren, Ryan, Robert and
Shannon Olbin, and Carl and Cole Goshert. Carol was a member of
First Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, deacon, and
office volunteer. She sang in the choir and was a member of the
bell choir. She was a member of the Family and Children Center
Auxiliary and Chapter BX-P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday,
June 25, in the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend, with
Rev. David Morrow officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood
Cemetery, Warsaw, Ind. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 12:30
p.m. on Tuesday in the church parlor. Memorial contributions may
be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax, South
Bend, IN 46601; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111
Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The Palmer Funeral Home,
River Park, South Bend, is in charge of arrangements.
