MISHAWAKA - Margaret (Kopsea) Gormeley, 84, formerly of
Mishawaka, passed away at home in Cordova, MD,, on 8 Feb 2010.
She was married for over 50 years to her best friend, James
Gormeley, who died 11 April 1997. Marge is survived by her son,
Jim (Jude) Gormeley of Annapolis, MD; daughter, Michele Cottle of
Medina, OH; grandchildren, Cullen (Lisa) and Patrick (Lauren)
Cottle; sisters, Elsie (Louie) Baldoni of Mishawaka and Tags
(Dick) Ball of Cincinnati, OH; sisters-in-law, Annie (Chil)
Kopsea and Terry (Bobby) Gormeley; and many nieces, nephews and
dear friends. Born to the late Anna and Charles Kopsea on 27 Nov
1925, Marge was the youngest of nine children, and when she was
only two-years-old they lost their father in an accident. Their
mother, Anna, raised the children by herself and instilled in
each of them tremendous strength, courage and love. Marge and Jim
met when she was a Mishawaka High student and he was a mechanical
engineering student at Notre Dame. They were married on St.
Patrick's Day 1945. Jim was in the U.S. Army at the time and his
degree sent them to Oak Ridge, TN, where they each worked on the
Manhattan Project. It was the first of many moves, adventures,
and travels throughout the U.S., Europe, and even Africa. Marge
was a student and teacher of many crafts and cooking skills,
enjoyed reading and being an active member of a bowling league.
What she treasured most was being with those whom she loved. She
will be lovingly remembered with a visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. on
Thursday, February 18, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th
Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Friday, February 19, in the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Karepin
officiating. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery,
Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, she requested that a donation be
made to St. Michael's Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, 712
