James Lawrence Gordon

Mr. James Lawrence Gordon, 66, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother, passed from this life at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. James was born Aug. 29, 1936, to James and Alice Gordon. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his mother; three brothers, Charles, Earl Brown, Robert (Bobbie) Gordon; and by a sister, Josephine Brown-Thomas.

On April 23, 1976, he married Eleanor Norris. In 1996, James retired as an independent pipeline laborer. Mr. Gordon leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Eleanor Gordon; his father, James Gordon; six daughters, Thersa and Francine Gordon, Linda K. Harris, Diane L. (Danny) Williams, all of South Bend, Margaret (George) Fuller and Martha Gordon, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; four sons, James L. Jr., Rodney Gordon, Michael (Debbie) Harris, all of South Bend, and Lt. James T. (Kathy) Harris of Bloomington, Ind.; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irma Tates and Ann (Willie) Brown; three brothers, Bishop John (Dorothy), Hurbert and Edson (Janette) Brown of Flint, Mich.; and a host of other family and friends.

Services for James Lawrence Gordon are being held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in Alford's Mortuary.
