Robert J. Gorbitz, 76, formerly of South Edison Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, in St. Joseph's Care Center.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1923, in South Bend, to the late Anthony and Ella (Horvath) Gorbitz, Sr. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony Jr., Emery and Joseph. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Gorbitz retired from the Avanti Motor Corporation.

He is survived by a sister, Anna Neuhause of Colorado; and by four brothers, Carl Gorbitz and Albert Gorbitz, both of South Bend, James Gorbitz of Michigan and Oscar Gorbitz of New Mexico.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 16, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, in the funeral home, with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
