NORTH LIBERTY - Gertrude J. Goraczewski, 84, of Tamarack Road, North Liberty, died at 7:48 p.m. Saturday in Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle. Mrs. Goraczewski was `retired from Roach Appleton. She was born Jan. 24, 1912 in North Liberty to Joseph Jasinski and Stella Piechoski and was a lifelong area resident.

On April 23, 1932, in Terre Coupee, as Gertrude Jasinski, she married Marion J. Goraczewski. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1988. Surviving are two grandsons, Richard Goraczewski of North Liberty and Jim Goraczewski and his wife, Lori, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Marlene Sherland and her husband Marshall of Walkerton, and Michelle Thompson and her husband, Brian of New Carlisle; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchlid; a brother, Arthur Jasinski of Marcellus, Mich.; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Goraczewski of North Liberty. Preceding Mrs. Goraczewski in death was a daughter who died in infancy, and a son, Richard M. Goraczewski who died Sept. 27, 1994, four sisters, Mary Staszewski, Elizabeth Sanders, Bernice Rogers and Estelle Lubaway, and five brothers, Harry Jasinski, Frank Jasinski, Alex Jasinski, Leo Jasinski and Edwin Jasinski.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
