Mathilda Good

SOUTH BEND - Mathilda (Verhagan) "Tillie" Good, 94, went to join God Wednesday at 3 a.m. in Saint Joseph Medical Center, with her sons at her bedside. Tillie had been ill for five months. She was born in Brussels, Belgium, on August 10, 1913. She came to the USA at the age of five years.

She married David C. Good on Jan. 20, 1934, who predeceased her in 2004. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, John, Frank and Julius, and a daughter, Janet Krebbs. Surviving her are three children, David P. (Kathleen) of South Bend, Robert A. (Carole) of South Bend and Diane (John) McInerny of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Christine, David, Michael, David Paul, Kimberley, Robert, Julie, Richard, Debbie, Beth, Johnny and Jill; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Tillie retired from South Bend School City Cafeteria. She was a longtime member of Little Flower Church. She also worked at the food pantry at the church. Tillie was loved by all and never had an enemy. She will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Flower Church building fund.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be today at 10 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the church, and also may call one hour before services.
