SOUTH BEND - Lloyd J. Gonyou, 72, of South Bend, passed away Thursday morning at his summer residence in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Gonyou was born on Dec. 18, 1923 to Francis and Martha (Cooksey) Gonyou in Chatham, Ontario. He was a retired maintenance man in the sanitation removal industry.

In July 1949, in Windsor, Ontario, he married Lorraine I. Bellehumeur, she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Colleen Sitter, Martha Klein, Melissa Daum and Chris Couch; two sons, Jeffrey and Matthew; nine grandchildren; a sister, Monica Jercha; and a brother, Bud. Mr. Gonyou was preceded in death by a son, Stephen F. on Oct. 27, 1988.

A mass of christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Kaniewski Funeral Homes, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.
