MISHAWAKA - Clifton Goins, 96, of Mishawaka, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Clifton was born on Oct. 4, 1911, in Herrin, IL, as the son of William and Gertrude (Yancey) Goins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Goins and Gertie Yancy Windield Goins of Herrin, IL; Ruth Goins Alexander, sister, of Herrin, IL, and Evansville, IN; Paul Goins of River Park, South Bend, and Charles Goins of New Carlisle, IN, brothers; and by his first wife, Martha Moore Goins of South Bend, IN, and his second wife, Mildred De Beck Goins of Mishawaka, IN.

In 1937 Clifton married Martha Moore, who preceded him in death in 1960. Then in 1962 he married Mildred De Beck, who preceded him in death in 2001. Surviving are James Alexander, nephew of Evansville, IN, Luella Goins, sister-in-law of New Carlisle, Diana Lou Goins Thompson, niece of New Carlisle, IN, Joyce Goins Bergstrand of Wisconsin and Carole Goins Smith of Reddick, IL, nieces. Clifton moved to the Michiana area in 1936, coming from Illinois. He worked for AM General for 12 years before retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and was a member of the Local UAW.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions may be made in memory of Clifton to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
