SOUTH BEND - Margaret Beth ''Peg'' Goffeney, 46, of East Victoria Street, was found dead at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday at U.S. 31 and the Wabash River near Peru, Ind. The Miami County coroner's office is investigating the death. Mrs. Goffeney was employed by South Bend Medical Foundation for five years. She was born Aug. 8, 1949, in South Bend.

On July 24, 1982, in South Bend, as Margaret B. Hunt, she married Frederick L. Goffeney. He survives with two sons, Benjamin A. Sherman and Samuel R. Sherman, both of South Bend; four stepsons, Steve of Three Rivers, Jeffery of Greenwood, Ind., Andy of South Bend, and Fred Jr. of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; and her parents, Margaret and Paulmer Hunt of Mishawaka. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School.

Private services will be held. Cremation will take place, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
