Mrs. Cecelia E. Goddard, 85, residing at the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, Ind., formerly of East Victoria Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Goddard was born in South Bend on May 27, 1912, to the late Robert and Marie (White) Bliler, and remained a lifelong resident of this community. She was a secretary for the Standard Oil Company and retired from the Pepsi Corporation.
On Aug. 21, 1948, in Plymouth, Ind., she married Ray Goddard, who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1971. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bliler in 1965; and by a sister, Mary Palmer on Feb. 10, 1998. She is survived by a sister, Pauline Keefer of South Bend; and by a brother, William Franklin ''Frank'' Bliler, also of South Bend.
Mrs. Goddard was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 569.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue. Rev. Ross Cook will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Hamilton Grove.
