Mishawaka - George W. Gleissner, 209 Woodward Ave., LaPorte, formerly of Mishawaka, died unexpectedly at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the LaPorte Community Hospital.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., on Sept 9, 1903, Mr Gleissner had lived in Mishawaka for many years before moving to LaPorte about 20 years ago. At one time he was co-owned of a grocery store at 543 W. 3rd St.
On Dec. 27, 1929, in Huntington, Ind., Mr. Gleissner married the former Dorothy Ebersole, who survives. Also surviving are one son, George J. stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany; one daughter, Mrs. Michael Green of LaPorte; six grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas P. and John T., both of Mishawaka, and Eugene E. Gleissner of Prairie Village, Kan., and two sisters, Mrs. Allison B. Lindahl and Mrs. Elmo Nix, both of Mishawaka.
He retired from Allis-Chalmers Co. in 1968.
Friends may call in the Essinger Funeral Home., LaPorte, after 1 p.m. Friday.
A requiem mass will be offered in St. Peters Church, LaPorte, and burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery in that city.
