SOUTH BEND - Joyce Ann Gindelberger, 77, of South Bend, passed away Thursday, August 21st, in Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 5, 1930, in Tipton, IN, to the late Homer Marcus and Helen L. (Cochran) Brinegar. On September 2, 1950, she married Howard Wayne Gindelberger. This September they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Joyce retired from the South Bend Community School Corp. where she was employed as a teacher for 23 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she had been involved with the choir, was a member of Friendship Circle and Eastern Star of Wabash, IN. Joyce always had big family dinners on holidays and loved surrounding herself with her growing family. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, taking trips in her younger days, and always taking care of her husband. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Howard; three daughters, Ann L. (Sam) Phillips of Woodstock, CT, Nan Boston of South Bend and Pamela Joyce (Ricky) Herndon of Mishawaka; two sons, Bruce (Caridad) Gindelberger of San Diego, CA, and Mark Wayne (Sherry) Gindelberger of Dowagiac, MI; her sister, Eloyce Van Lue of Syracuse, IN; 18 grandchildren, Elizabeth Phillips, Angela Phillips, Karl Gindelberger, Nathan Gindelberger, Ian Gindelberger, Nicole Boston-Silva, Jessica Boston, Jennifer Gindelberger, Christina Gindelberger, Mark Gindelberger Jr., Russell Gindelberger, Kevin Gindelberger, Dawn Buck, Trisha Spencer, Sarah Nimtz-Hernandez, Chris Herndon, Melissa Herndon and Glover Herndon; 14 great-grandchildren; and her former daughter in-law, Patty Neal of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26th, at 2 p.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from noon till time of services. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Welsheimer Family Funeral Homes are handling arrangements.
