NEW CARLISLE -- Jean C. Gilpin, 76,
of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, July 29,
2007, in Miller's Merry Manor. Jean was born on December 11,
1930, in Ft. Wayne, IN. On October 2, 1949, in the New Carlisle
Community Church, as Jean Casaday, she married Harry D.
Gilpin, who preceded her in death on November 24, 1983. Survivors
include her son and family in Washington State; two daughters,
Diane (Bob) Melady of New Carlisle, IN, and Debbie (John) Rivers
of Canton, OH; nine grandchildren, Jody, Jeff, Kim, Jason,
Brenda, Kellie, Dan, Joe and Michael; 10 great-grandchildren,
Brandon, Deon, Derek, Cody, David, Jack, Kaylee, Luke, Gabriel
and Ryan; a great-great-grandchild, Brooklyn; her mother, Edna
Casaday of New Carlisle, IN; and two brothers, George (Cynthia)
Casaday of Massachusetts and Michael (Marcella) Casaday of
California. She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S.
Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN. Burial will follow at New
Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in
the funeral home.
