Marie C. Gill, 80, of Blossom Drive,
Mishawaka, Ind., died after an illness on Sunday, March 31, in
Memorial Hospital. Marie was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Chicago,
Ill., to Elmer R. and Emma E. (Hartig) Dale.
On Nov. 22, 1941, as Marie Dale, she married
Robert E. Gill Sr., who survives. Marie is also survived by a
daughter, Marie (Mark) Longar of South Bend, Ind., and
Robert (Carolyn) Gill of Osceola, Ind.; and by five
grandchildren, John Longar, Heidi (Josh) Uebelhor, Katie
Longar, Konner Longar and Ann Marie Gill.
Marie received her certification as a dental
technician from the University of Illinois, and with her husband
Robert operated Gill Dental Castings for many years. She also
worked as a credit manager for the Notre Dame Credit Union. She
was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church where she
was a member of the Altar Society and the Rosary Society. She was
also a member of Our Lady Study Club and the University Club of
Notre Dame. Marie was active in the American Business Women's
Association, was a member of the American Business Women's
Association Inner Circle and was their Woman of the Year in 1988.
She was a member of the South Bend Women of the Moose Lodge #1057
and received their College of Regent Degree and was a charter
member of the Indiana Higher Degree Council of the Moose
Association. She also was a member of the Birthday Group.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie C. Gill
will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, with entombment following in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation for Marie C. Gill will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. today, April 3, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 17033
Cleveland Road, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
