Virginia W. Gillespie, 82, residing at 100 Center Apartments, Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, at her residence of natural causes. She was born on October 8, 1918, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Franklin and Genevieve Archambeault, and lived in the South Bend area since 1960. Her first husband, George Ferber, and her second husband, Duane Gillespie, both preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Karen Gerber of South Bend; three granddaughters, Amy Ferber, Kimberly Ferber and Jennifer Ferber, all at home; a brother, Frank Archambeault of LaPorte, IN; and two cousins, Yvonne Skelton of Mishawaka and Gary Heeter of South Bend. She is also preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Mrs. Gillespie formerly attended St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2001, at Palmer Funeral Homes, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN. Father Frumentius Kule will officiate. There will be no visitation. Per Virginia's request, cremation will take place with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Virginia W. Gillespie may be given to the American Red Cross, 3220 E. Jefferson, South Bend, IN 46615.
