MISHAWAKA - Jack Lee Gillam, 67, formerly of Mishawaka, died on
Monday, December 28th, 2009, at Porter Memorial Hospital,
Valparaiso, Indiana. He was born in Chicago on September 14th,
1942, to Arthur and Euretha (Troup) Gillam, who preceded him in
death. On February 14th, 2003, he married the former Karen Cites,
who died in 2005. Mr. Gillam worked for the Mishawaka Water
Treatment Plant for many years until his retirement due to
medical problems. He was involved in drag racing in Scottsdale,
Arizona, winning many trophies in the 1960s. He is survived by
his sons, Michael Lynn Gillam and Robert John Gillam, both of
Mishawaka; a brother, Michael Gillam of Mishawaka; and two
sisters, Judith (Bob) Rassmussen of Cassopolis, Michigan, and
Diana (Larry) Snyder of South Bend. Also surviving are four
grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be
held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 2nd, in Bubb Funeral Chapel,
3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends will be received
from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday.
Officiating will be Pastor Darren Huff with burial following the
services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family would like
to acknowledge the loving attention of the staff at Valparaiso
Care and Rehabilitation that was given Jack in his later years.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions
be made to Harbor Lights Hospice, 4330 Miami Street, South Bend;
or to the Church of God And Prophecy, 12800 McKinley Highway,
Mishawaka.
