Alma L. Gidley

Alma L. Gidley, 95, residing on Tartan Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a patient since Feb. 23.

Mrs. Gidley was born on April 18, 1904 in South Bend to the late Charles C. and Anna B. (Kirsch) Reinking and had been a lifelong resident of this community. She was a homemaker and had been employed with several banks in the area before retiring.

 

On Sept. 22, 1926 in South Bend as Alma Reinking she married Rex Dulmatch, who preceded her in death in 1937. Then on Feb. 28, 1946 in South Bend she was married to William W. Gidley who also preceded her in death in 1974. Mrs. Gidley is survived by two daughters, Marilyn J. Dulmatch of Battle Creek, Mich., and Jan L. Wozniak of Cary, N.C.; a son, Jack E. Dulmatch of Sun City, Calif.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ella M. Reinking who made her home with Alma. Mrs. Gidley was a longtime member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and the Women's Service League of the church, Valparaiso University Guild, and formerly served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

 

Services for Mrs. Gidley will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, in Emmaus Lutheran Church, 929 E. Milton Street, South Bend. Rev. Don Stuckwisch, pastor, will officiate. Private graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Alma Gidley may be offered to the Bethesda Lutheran Home, Watertown, Wis.; Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind.; or to Emmaus Lutheran Church, South Bend.
