EDWARDSBURG - Robert R. Ghyselinck,
71, born to the late Robert and Irene Ghyselinck of Twilight
Street in Edwardsburg, Mich., died on Saturday, March 28, in his
home. He was born on July 7, 1926, in Mishawaka, Ind., and had
lived in South Bend, Ind., until moving to Edwardsburg 11 years
ago. Mr. Ghyselinck retired after 40 years as a computer analyst
with the Associates Corporation of America. On Nov. 25, 1950, he
married Dorothy Smorin, who survives. He is also survived
by two daughters, Barbara Siri of Jasper, Ind., and Julie
Ghyselinck of South Bend; three sons, Michael Ghyselinck of New
Carlisle, Ohio, Rev. Mark Ghyselinck, CSC, of Notre Dame,
Ind., and David Ghyselinck of South Bend; eight grandchildren,
Christine, David, Amber and Michael Siri, Shaun, Jon, Sara and
Mary Ghyselinck; and by a brother, Bill Ghyselinck of Mishawaka.
Mr. Ghyselinck was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic
Church, was a past member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 37
years where he had served on the Parish Council, and was a member
of the Holy Cross Athletic Club. He was also a World War II Army
veteran and a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 360.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, in Holy Cross Catholic Church,
with Rev. Mark Ghyselinck, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow
in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on
Monday, March 30, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Cass County Hospice, Our Lady of the
Lake Catholic Church building fund, or to the Holy Cross Catholic
Church building fund.
