NORTH LIBERTY - Richard A. Geyer, 66, of North Liberty, IN,
passed away at 10:45 p.m. Monday, April 4th, in his residence
after an extended illness with his loving family at his beside.
Mr. Geyer was born December 9, 1943, in South Bend, IN, and had
resided in the area his lifetime. On December 27, 1975, in South
Bend, he married the former Jan Cottrell, who survives. Also
surviving are a daughter, Kim K. (Dale) McDaniels of Walkerton,
IN; a son, Richard A. (Jennifer) Geyer Jr. of Walkerton, IN; four
grandchildren, Jennifer McDaniels, Kiera Kurzhal-Geyer, Josh Lee
and Nick Geyer. He has one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Bush.
He has one surviving sister, Susan K. (Alex) Gaal of Niota, TN;
and two surviving brothers, Ronnie (Nancy) Geyer of Punta Gorda,
FL, and Joey Geyer of South Bend, IN. Richard has one sister who
preceded him in death, Mary Ellen Marslander in 1990. Also his
parents, Cloyd Geyer and Mary Beth (Bokary) Geyer. Mr. Geyer
retired from Rieth-Riley Construction Co. in 2000 after 37 years
of service. Prior to becoming ill he was employed at Whispering
Pines Golf Course in North Liberty for 10 years. He was a member
of S.A.L. (Sons of American Legion), Post 365 in North Liberty,
and the International Operating Engineers Local Union 150.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed cutting wood, along
with being a big NASCAR fan. He especially enjoyed spending time
with his family and friends. Visitation hours will be form 4 to 8
p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010, in the Hanley & Sons Funeral
Home "Walkerton Chapel," Located at 1216 Roosevelt
Road, Walkerton, IN. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.
Saturday, April 10th, in the funeral home, with burial following
at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty, IN. The family request, PLEASE
make all memorial contributions to St. Jude Chidlren's
Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
The HANLEY and SONS Funeral Home "Walkerton
Chapel" handled arrangements and services and extends it
deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Geyer family.
