MISHAWAKA - Richard Lamar George, 72,
of 55464 Bittersweet Road, was dead of natural causes on arrival
at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. George
was former owner/operator of Green Meadow Farms and former
owner/operator of G. and R. Enterprises Inc., Osceola. He was
born Aug. 13, 1923, in Nappanee.
On Oct. 19, 1969, in Osceola, he married
Patricia A. Paxton-Rowe. She survives with a daughter,
Rebecca George of Brenham, Texas; three sons, Mark A. Rowe
of Elkhart, Gregory R. George of Toledo, Ohio, and Douglas W.
George of Mishawaka; two grandsons; and a brother, Virgil George
of Leesburg, Fla.
He was a member of Pennway Church of God,
National Pace Car Association Hall of Fame, American Paint Horse
Association and National Lumber Men's Association. He was the
founder and president of Hidden Meadows Equestrian Center,
founder of Little Dutch Barns, Inc. and was formerly employed by
Studebaker Corp. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Warner
Funeral Home, Osceola. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Sunday and an hour before services on Monday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
