SOUTH BEND - Jack Gentry, 80, of South Bend passed away at
10:20 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2007, in his home. He retired in
1990 from Sibley Machine and Foundry after 35 years of service.
He was born on September 19, 1927, in South Bend, to the late
Cecil W. and Ethel Lucille (Cowen) Gentry and lived in
this area all of his life.
On November 27, 1948, in South Bend, he
married Betty J. (Fuller) Gentry and they just celebrated
59 years of marriage. Also surviving are three sons, James M.
Gentry of Indianapolis, John Gentry of South Bend and Jeff
(Melissa) Gentry of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Todd
(Elyse) Gentry of Columbus, OH, Lauren (Kurt) Haines of
Indianapolis and Hollie Gentry of Santa Paulo, CA; two
great-grandchildren, Drew and Mason Haines; two sisters, Onalee Wise
of Union, MI and Shirley Elliot of Florida; and three brothers,
Jerry, Cecil T., and Danny Gentry, all of Florida.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Wednesday in Palmer Funeral Home, 3718 South Michigan Street,
South Bend. Rev. Andy Kaser will officiate. Burial will follow at
Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on
Tuesday in the funeral home. Jack was a World War II Army
Veteran. He loved to fish and work on all sorts of small engines.
He loved his family and will be greatly missed. Contributions in
