SOUTH BEND - Rev. Aaron Gathright, 71, of South Bend, went home
to rest with the Lord between 7 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, March
11th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN,
where he had been employed for 16 years before retiring. Rev.
Cathright was born to the union of Zeb Gathright and Ruth Ann
(Ezekiel) Boose on September 17, 1938, in Holland, Missouri. Both
his parents and stepfather preceded him in death. He was united
in holy matrimony to the late Evelyn (Osuley) Gathright on
November 18, 1960, in Chicago, IL. This union blessed Rev.
Gathright with five stepchildren, Emmage (Belinda) Osuley, Willie
(Amy) Osuley, Mae Francis Cross, Cleveland (Lonzetta) Smith and
Frank (Audrey) Sanders. Rev. Gathright enjoyed attending various
church functions and preaching the Word of God. His presence will
be greatly missed. Rev. Gathright came from a large family. He
was the oldest of 18 children. His sisters, Isabelle Hodges,
Rogenia Jones, and brother, Calvin Boose, preceded him in death
along with his parents and wife. Surviving family include
brothers, Nathaniel (Margaret) Gathright, Ezekiel (Alvain) Boose,
Sylvester (Josephine) Boose, Lawrence Boose, Ollie Boose, Ervin
(Pamela) Gathright, Jerry Gathright and Zeb Gathright; and
sisters, Gertrude Boose, Savannah (Shokha) Dean, Jessie (Wallace)
Goff, Earnestine Boose, Linda (Charles) DeJean and Clara Taylor.
Rev. Aaron Gathright was also blessed with 25 grandchildren, 49
great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, and a
host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Celebration of life
services for Rev. Aaron Gathright will be held at Bethlehem
Missionary Baptist Church, South Bend, on Friday, March 19, 2010,
at noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, with
burial at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home is
handling arrangements.
